Tom Lankford is the owner and President of Ivy Green Consulting. Through IGC, he provides select clients with customized Executive-level business development and government relations support, including: opportunity assessment and capture strategy formulation/execution; partnership development; federal liaison and advocacy; legislative process expertise, monitoring and analysis, and bill/report drafting; witness placement and hearing preparation; and public relations and communications support.
During his 25 years as a Government Relations Executive, Lankford has represented a diverse mix of clients, including large prime contractors/integrators, mid-sized companies, small and disadvantaged businesses, academic institutions, non-profits, and foreign governments. The range of services provided, based on the specific needs of the client, has varied from business development and marketing, to Executive and Legislative Branch liaison and issue/program/budget advocacy, to hearing/testimony preparation and mentoring, and highly specialized legislative drafting and funding promotion.
Tom Lankford’s government experience includes more than nine years of service in the United States Senate as a senior staff member of the New Hampshire congressional delegation. Lankford served from 1988-1990 as Legislative Assistant for Defense to Senator Gordon Humphrey (R-NH), and from 1990-1997 as Senior Policy/National Security Advisor to Senator Bob Smith (R-NH). As a senior member of Senator Smith’s team, Lankford was the Senator’s lead staff advisor for all defense and foreign policy, intelligence, science and technology, and international trade issues, and served as the Senator’s personal designee to the Senate Armed Services Committee and the Senate Arms Control Observer Group. In addition to these responsibilities, Lankford served for a year as Acting Legislative Director for Senator Smith, managing the legislative staff and overseeing execution of the Senator’s comprehensive legislative agenda.
Through 35 years of continuous Capitol Hill and “K Street” service, Tom Lankford brings a unique and invaluable mix of contemporary national security, government relations, and political expertise.
